I'll be the first to admit that when it comes to all this "technology" stuff, there are members of the WarCry team that... well, they've forgotten more than I'll ever know. I play the games, I write about the games, but the hardware goes right over my head. So, I'm taking all this mumbojumbo about "dropping my packets" and "omg latencyzorz and ping is unleet yo" at face value.
But, as a gamer, I know that lag is bad. I don't like lag. It is not my friend. So, when there comes a product that claims to reduce the lag encountered in online games, I get a bit excited.
This is what the makers of the KillerNIC (Network Interface Card, for the uninformed--like me!) have to say:
Whether you have an hour to play at night or you are a dedicated pro gamer: the Killer NIC is for anyone that cherishes their online gaming time. The Killer™ Network Interface Card (NIC) is the world's first Network Card designed specifically for Online Gaming. Powered by Lag and Latency Reduction (LLR™) Technology, Killer gives your computer superior speed and performance. More Frames Per Second and lower Pings when they matter most: during intense online gaming action.
They talk big. Now, David "Ara" Greene over at SWG WarCry got his hands on the KillerNIC, and lets us know exactly how it measures up to its claims. Read his review of the newest weapon in the gamers' war against lag Here--only on WarCry!
Funk out.
