From the fine people at Next Gen:

Apparently, the Big N was quite serious when they said they were going to produce enough Wiis (is that the correct plural? Or is it like "Moose"?) to meet demand. According to an analyst firm, Nintendo has already constructed over two million units, with another seven to nine million expected by the end of the fiscal year (remember, though, that's in March--businesses are tricky like that).

Alex Guana with UBS Investment Research said in a note to investors that Nintendo has already produced two million Wiis in calendar Q3 (July through September) in preparation for the fourth quarter launch of the console.

Guana also stated that "at least seven million and potentially as high as nine million more units are in the build plan for 4Q06. This production ramp handily exceeds a publicly announced target for six million units to ship by year-end."

Nintendo has reiterated that it plans on shipping six million Wiis by the end of its fiscal year ending March 31, 2007.

So, by March 31st, Nintendo could potentially have made ELEVEN MILLION of those things. That's... well, it's a big number.

Good thing, too. After the Wii showed up on the "Hot Dozen" list, finding one with the legions of zombified parents on its trail might be rough.
