Scoring NWN 2 a "promising" game, the reviewers at Gamespy have posted a mini review of the game.
We have so far encountered a handful of minor bugs during our early experience with the game, though none were very serious. The most common occurrence was sound dropping out suddenly, only to return through no apparent action on our part. Also, in one isolated instance, one of our party members apparently teleported to the far end of a dungeon, and initiated a conversation with a key NPC. When this happened, the main character was instantly teleported next to the offending party member, and the encounter continued without a hitch. In terms of overall performance, the game seems to handle quite well in most situations, though it slows down considerably when you're in more expansive areas -- such as the city of Neverwinter. Atari released a "Day One" patch earlier today that will hopefully remedy some of these small annoyances.
In summary: Neverwinter Nights 2 is looking pretty good so far. If you're a fan of this kind of RPG, then don't hesitate to check it out. There's still quite a bit left to explore before we can arrive at a final verdict (not the least of which is the slew of multiplayer options), but at this point, it's safe to say that most RPG fans won't be disappointed with the packaged campaign. Watch for our full Neverwinter Nights 2 review on GameSpy.com in the coming days.
