1. First off, would you tell us a bit about yourself, such as your name, your position at Sigil, and anything else you'd like to share?
My name is Whitney Slagle, and I am the Sigil Games Office Assistant. Although, I've heard other names, such as "Cola Girl", and "Slave Girl" before. J
2. What are the responsibilities that your position entails?
Basically, my position covers a little bit of everything. I help get the place up and running in the mornings, which always involves providing several different means of caffeine, and the ever popular sugar rush. I'm fairly certain that the Sigil machine would shut down given a shortage of soda, Snickers bars, and Laffy Taffy, so I provide the fuel for the fire.
I also do your regular office tasks, like ordering, stocking, delivering, filing, faxing, e-mailing, and mainly running around, doing a lot of the stuff that nobody else wants to do!
3. Why did you enter into your current field of work?
I don't even really know... It's just one of those things that just works out that way I guess. Well, that, and I must be crazy!?
4. Why did you choose to go into the Game Development Industry? And specifically into Sigil?
I was really excited to get my job with Sigil, because gaming really is a hobby of mine. Which, ironically enough, I don't get to do much of because I'm working. J
I've also been long interested in the artistic aspects of game development, and actually went to school to study art and design.
5. How did you gain your job with Sigil Games?
The opportunity of working at Sigil Games just kind of popped up on me... It looked like a fantastic opportunity, so I chased it down, and they were convinced enough to hire me! Sure fooled them! ;)
6. What sort of positions have you held in the past?
One other job that I currently hold is my job as a U.S. Marine. I'm currently a reservist, so I juggle both my job at Sigil, and the Marine Corps.
I've also run my own website, and done some freelance graphic design and many portrait drawings, which I'd like to continue in the future.
I've also been a housekeeper, a student, a receptionist at a bank, and worked for a snazzy little boutique back in my home state of Ohio.
7. How did you get started in the industry?
My wonderful husband and the Marine Corps is actually what brought me here to Southern California. I'd had no real previous experience with working in the industry, but have always been a fan of games. So it's really been a fun and interesting experience!
8. What do you enjoy the most about your job?
I really enjoy a lot about my job... everyday is different, and I've never worked with a set of people that I enjoy as much as the Sigil bunch. Even when they're pranking me and painting awful things on my car.
Which, what goes around, comes around I guess. ;)
