Many have heard of Lady Aerfalle, and a smaller (but significant) proportion of the population have even claimed to have invaded her halls and struck her down within her own Keep. Her lover, Lord Rytheran, can claim no such honour, however. His Mage Academy has stayed mostly under the radar, so to speak, only receiving a handful of Isparian students over the recent months.

Perhaps modern mages do not appreciate a traditional education, or perhaps they find Eaushi the Trainer a better master than Lord Rytheran. Some have even suggested that today's young mages consider the pervasive chittering heard at Knorr more conductive to a rigorous education than the stench of the Undead. For my part, I have seen the effects the Olthoi enslavement had upon my friends and family. I have no desire to see those events repeat themselves -it is at least possible to negotiate with the Dericost.

Whatever the reason for the Mage Academy's general state of desolation, it is not completely devoid of visitors. For example, Aesa recently stumbled upon a near-forgotten path to the Academy, explored the ancient halls, and in the spirit of academic openness, she took the opportunity to share her findings with us and extend our Quest Compendium!

With the help of Aesa's research, those seeking a magical education of the more traditional kind -- or merely seeking to sack the halls of the Undead -- may find enlightenment within the depths of Rytheran's Mage Academy...
