Samera has given us the word of maintenance:

The servers and billing site will be offline tomorrow, Wednesday January 3rd from 9:30 am until 1:00 pm EST. This is a maintenance update only - there will be no release notes.

And later in the same thread clarified that this really is only some behind the scenes maintenance and no changes are being made:

Like I said above - this is Maintenance only. We're not fixing anything, we're not removing anything, we're not changing anything, and the Festival Jester isn't going anywhere (yet). The NetOps team is just doing some maintenance.
