Porn, Not Consoles May Decide Format War

CNet's News.com has an interesting take on the highly publicized format wars between HD-DVD and Blu-ray. The two competing formats have been waging an expensive war to replace DVDs and some speculate that the next-gen console wars (Xbox 360 with the HD-DVD and PS3 with Blu-ray) may play a huge role in determining who wins. CNet's News.com reports on another variable most would overlook: porn and why it gives HD-DVD an edge.

Admittedly though, this is one of those reports that cites "bloggers" as a source, so who knows.

The deciding factor in the case of HD DVD vs. Blu-ray may be this: who will work with the porn industry?

According to some bloggers, the makers of X-rated material are leaning toward HD DVD, saying Blu-ray is too expensive and doesn't have the market share.
