Xbox Live Arcade Expands Download Limit

| 19 Jan 2007 18:48

At first glance, Microsoft's decision to up the download limit on Xbox Live content from 50mb to 250mb seems like ho-hum news. However, this is perhaps the biggest news you'll ever see for MMOs and consoles.

Routinely, MMO patches can run North of 50mb, so Xbox Live MMOs are a risky business. Acclaim chief Howard Marks cited this as one major reason his company wasn't looking at the next-gen 360 when I spoke to him earlier this year at E3.

Now, with the move to 250mb, MMOs are much more practical on Microsoft's platform. This is great news for Age of Conan, which is already headed to the 360 and for games like Warhammer Online that are rumored to be running in that direction.
