Jack Thompson, the high-profile attorney at the center of many cases involving gaming and young people, has responded to an article EQII WarCry ran late last week. In that story, EQII WarCry reported on a story originally ran by GamePolitics that stated how Sony Online Entertainment helped locate Jacob Pribly, a 20 year-old missing EQII player and reunited him with his family.
Thompson, who was brought in by the family to help find the young-man, contacted WarCry today by email to tell his side of the story.
"SOE had nothing to do with this," he wrote. "We found the young man, and he has been reunited with his parents. I was happy to help."
He went on to explain that the parents had already been in contact with Pribly before SOE got involved.
SOE disputed the claims of Mr. Thompson when asked to respond to his comments.
"Gamepolitics.com got the story exactly right," Courtney Simmons, SOE's Director of Corporate Communications, told WarCry. "SOE staffers proactively did what they could to assist by providing relevant and reliable contact information that the parents didn't have. There was no hidden agenda; we're just happy we were able to help."
