Unreal Engine 3 is a game engine developed by Epic Games. While the Unreal Engine's previous versions have primarily been utilized to create popular first person shooter games such as Epic's Unreal series, the engine is also capable of developing games for alternative genres such as MMORPGs. In fact, the recently released MMORPG Vanguard: Saga of Heroes was developed using Unreal Engine 3.

Square-Enix recently announced that they plan to utilize the Unreal 3 engine. No confirmation of titles being developed with this engine have yet been given, however Square-Enix did state that it would be ideal for developing next-generation software for consoles such as the Playstation 3, Xbox 360, and Windows Vista.

Currently the Unreal Engine 3 does not support development for the Wii, however we may see this possible in the future through a potential collaboration of Epic and Ubisoft.
