PlayStation 3 Processing Power Put To Use

| 16 Mar 2007 15:23

Slashdot Games has an article up on a new program Sony is introducing to the PlayStation 3. The Folding@Home is a joint venture between Sony and Stanford University that looks how genes change shape over time by using extra PS3 processing power to study this. There have been a variety of PC-based projects of this type, like the cancer research project that ran as a screen saver.

While jokes could and likely are being made about all the wasted processing power in the PS3 being put to use, it is good to see a corporation put their hardware to good use.
