Google Buys In-Game Advertising Company

ars technica has news that Google's long-rumored purchase of Adscape is now official. This paves the way for Google to bring their advertising inside video games. At this point, most of the article is just speculation as to what they'll ultimately do, but the general intention seems rather clear.

Rumors have been flying for months about a Google buyout of Adscape, a San Francisco-based in-game marketer. The deal is now official, and though no financial details were released, the deal was earlier estimated at $23 million. Whatever the amount, Google has officially entered the in-game ad market, but they're keeping the specific plans under wraps.
