PlayStation 3 Breaks UK Sales Records

Despite negative internet buzz prior to its launch, the PlayStation 3 has used good stock and marketing to break the launch units sold record in the UK. According to Chart Track, there were 165,000 PS3s sold across the UK in its first two days. This is compared to only 105,000 Nintendo Wiis and 71,000 Xbox 360s during their launches. Those numbers are influenced by the shortages both Nintendo and Microsoft suffered.

Nonetheless, the news marks a reversal of fortune for Sony in the ongoing console wars. On top of the UK sales, Chart Track also reports that 600,000 sales across Europe.
