Xbox 360 Advertisment Pulled, Glamorizes Street Racing
|
Microsoft has pulled a British television advertisement from the air after a watchdog accused them of glamorizing street racing. Despite Microsoft putting all the usual text on screen that tells people not to crash their cars, the watchdog group thought that the warnings only reinforced the idea that someone could pull these stunts off.
So there you have it, if you make an advertisement without warnings you'll get sued when someone decides to drive their car off a cliff after seeing it on TV. If you make an advertisement with warnings, you'll get in trouble because the warnings tell people that they might actually be able to do this, since someone else clearly did, even though the warning clearly says don't do it.
Brilliant.
