Computer Games Less Engrossing Than Other Media?

Slashdot reported on a study that talks about a lot of interesting things to do with video games, but most controversially asserts that people have less of an emotional attachment/reaction to what happens in games, versus what happens in books or films. Honestly, I'd have to agree, but I wouldn't say that it's the fault of the medium, just the way the current generation of games is designed.
