Ulric:
Dear Community,
Within the couple of weeks we have received lots of useful reports regarding players who use bots, exploits or illegal third-party tools in order to "farm" huge amounts of in-game loot and money. This "harvested" wealth is then sold on different internet websites for real-world money. This is known as "Real Money Trading, or RMT for short.
These kinds of operations are strictly forbidden as they are against the Terms of Service and can ruin the in-game economy, spoiling the fun for everyone. Not only that, but these unscrupulous entrepreneurs can also be very aggressive in their marketing and sales methods, filling in-game and out of game inboxes with junk mail and spam messages.
Just recently, we have caught and removed around 100 accounts from the game which were linked with these illegal RMT activities.
We want to thank every player who sent in reports to us of these activities and hope that we can count on your assistance for the future as well. With your vigilance, assistance and quick reactions we can help keep these illegal operators at bay. The best thing you can do is not to use or buy their services. Without demand they cannot maintain a business.
Regards,
The LOTRO Support Team
