This week's Fan Favorite comes from Natalia Bynmad:
My favorite is the Sword of Lost Light.
Ever since I saw an advocate wielding this blade while on duty at the Rithwic East outpost I wanted a Sword of Lost Light. It was one of (if not the) first epic quest in Asheron's Call. There are eight dungeons related to the quest, nine if you want to visit Tibri's cave for more information.
The quest uses multiple rumors. Individually they don't explain the entire quest. There are rumors sold in six starter towns that only hint at a local dungeon containing a mysterious key. The rest of the rumors, which explain the location of the seventh key and the Halls of Lost Light, only show up in ruins and points of interest scattered across the landscape.
The first version of the quest required low levels and high levels working together. The first six keys found near starter towns were in dungeons with level caps or 5 or 6. Nowadays the dungeons have no level restrictions but higher levels can still request help from lower levels, making it a good quest for patrons and vassals to do together.
The sword itself has always looked great. The original model was unique in its day, and the SoLL is still the only weapon in game with the unique specs of light particle effect. The upgraded model is one of the most detailed swords in the game.
Not only does it look cool but also it's a very functional weapon. The combination of the SoLL and superior shield is all a sword fighter will need from the level they can activate the spells till they reach 250 base skill. And when you outgrow the sword, there are three fire infusions that can be added to the sword which increase its stats, spells, and wield requirement, making the sword still useful at 250-325 skill. If you want to take it a step further you can infuse the 325 SoLL with the blood of the hopeslayer, corrupting the blade and making the acid damage Sword of Lost Hope. This makes the SoLL one of only two or three quest weapons that you can continue to upgrade throughout your characters life.
So, take a look at our write-up here, and see what makes this one a fan favorite!
