According to New York Business's website, Atari lost over $71 million dollars in the last fiscal year. The filing, posted at the end of March 2007, shows that the ailing video game company and publisher of Neverwinter Nights 2 among other games, lost more than two million more dollars than the previous fiscal year.
Struggling video game publisher Atari Inc. said Monday that expects to report a wider-than-expected loss for its fiscal year ended March 31, according a regulatory filing.
The Manhattan-based firm said it will report a loss of $71.3 million, or $5.29 a share, compared with a loss of $69 million, or $5.36 a share, in the year-earlier period. Revenue for the year ended March 31 fell 44% to $121.6 million.
Despite a 20% layoff in the Atari workforce, the company still showed an enormous loss. Parent company Infogrames hasn't shown a profit in over seven years:
In early May, Atari said it would cut its workforce by 20%. The most recent figures show the company had 232 employees at the end of fiscal 2006. Atari said at the time that the cuts would be completed by July 31 of this year, and would result in a charge of $800,000 to $1.1 million in fiscal 2008.
