Asherons Call: QotD - Will Resistance Rending Remove The Need To Spec Life?

Basically, most people specialize Life Magic in order to be able to vuln higher Magic Defense creatures. However since it appears that Resitance Rending can't be...resisted (its not a spell), and it affects the same Reistance values as a Vuln, does that have the potential to remove the need to specialize Life Magic?
