IGN has posted a Q&A with Obsidian Entertainment's CEO Feargus Urquhart. The interview wanders all over the "things we need to know" spectrum and there are some interesting tidbits:
IGN: Do you get a new stronghold in the expansion? Are there any alterations to the existing system?
Feargus Urquhart: We didn't continue with the Stronghold concept in Mask of the Betrayer. Since you're around Rashemen and Thay, far from Crossroad Keep, it wouldn't have made sense to include it and creating a new stronghold didn't fit as well with the story we developed for this game.
And this too:
IGN: The inventory system in NWN2 was inconvenient at best, are you making any overhauls for the expansion? Will those overhauls be retroactive for the base game?
Feargus Urquhart: To be honest, I'm not sure yet if we will be able to overhaul the inventory system before we ship the expansion. It's on our list of things to do and pretty high on there as well. We did address this issue some for the official campaign in Mask of the Betrayer by revisiting how we handle loot and crafting - you'll have less inventory clutter and more interesting items.
We are also working on other things that are just as important to the NWN community, like an improved version of the DM Client with a newly designed Party Control Bar. Plus, we are working on a new overall control scheme for the game and optimizations to the rendering engine.
