World Of Warcraft: What About the Horde Heroes?

A weighty debate is being waged on the US forums over the factional fairness of the bad guys in the World of Warcraft. Blood Elf Ketsumi, after the recent discovery that the final boss of Zul'Aman is to be none other than famous troll warrior Zul'jin, asks the question: Why are we killing Horde heroes?

There are a few problems with his argument:

- Both the Blood Elves and the Forsaken are unabashedly evil and, as such, make for great villains. For those who've explored Silvermoon City, a chilling example of their power-hungry madness exists in the form of a captured Naaru being drained of his essence. To a lesser degree, the other Horde races (Tauren aside) are known for their negative qualities. The Orcs were bred for rage and the cruelty of the Trolls is renown.

- The Orcs that you encounter in Hellfire Citadel are hardly the Orcs we've come to love. Twisted by the demonic energies of the Legion, they've become enraged Fel Orcs and share little with their olive cousins. Along these lines, there are a variety of Troll tribes, each with differing views and practices.

- There aren't that many Alliance heroes left to kill, and most of them are helping level 30 characters kill defectors in Dustwallow Marsh or make Karazhan keys.

While the argument may not be entirely supported by lore, it does bring up an interesting point: have the evil Horde races strayed too far from their devilish roots? Undead Rogues (and now their fleshy Blood Elf relatives) are still the most dastardly of the lot, but has the expansion of lore in World of Warcraft diluted the true nature of the Horde?
