Asherons Call: I'm Home! And Have Gotten ALL of Your Emails About the Upgrade

| 15 Jul 2003 14:16

Yes, while at ACPL, Jessica Mulligan did say it would take a "petition or poll or something" done by us, the players, to make Microsoft consider an expansion. And yes, Ophelea the quick to jump on the bandwagon, said she do one. And I will. But...

As much as I respect the petition being completed at Petitiononline it's very flawed and gives little to no information to Turbine or Microsoft. As Maddy said, she was able to complete it 5 times from the SAME computer last night.

So, realizing that I JUST got home less than 10 hours ago and I have some personal issues to deal with this week, I WILL get the promised poll up in the next few days. But understand, I mean poll, not petition. And it will have checks. Here are some of the things I'm going to have added:

[li]A list of features players would like to see in the expansion.
[li]What exactly does this graphics upgrade mean? Does it mean an option for high vs low-resolution play? Or an upgrade that could mean that a goodly chunk of our playerbase on older machines can't play anymore?
[li]What are you willing to PAY for this? And not just the price of the expansion....are you willing to pay in increased monthly fees? And what if those fees started next month to generate the revenue necessary to pay for a team to do the expansion? (the live team doesn't have time)
[li]Your REAL LIFE NAME AND PASSPORT. I don't want your passWORD - but there has to be a way to check that it IS AC players answering this questionnaire and that the numbers are inflated.
Now, I've set up a thread in our AC Discussions forum. Please, go there and think about WHAT you want in this proposed expansion. And keep in mind this is still Turbine Engine One. Asking for a graphics update that looks like AC2 or a crafting system like SWG just may not be possible. And really, think about what YOU are willing to pay. This IS give and take.

Finally, consider HOW we should COUNT the votes. Do we count one per account - which REQUIRES that I get names and passports because I can't cookie you or IP block a second vote - or is it one per person, making it MUCH MUCH easier for me to stop inflation of the poll.

Can't wait to hear from you! *sees the codemonkey quivering now*
