Following the less-than-stellar "live" concert last Sunday, 1UP spoke with Funcom product manager Terri Perkins to find out just what went wrong:
1UP: From browsing the forums, it looks like there were some technical difficulties. What went wrong and has the event been rescheduled?
Terri Perkins: Yes there was some issues during the event. It was a first for everyone involved though, and we all learned a few key lessons which will be applied to any future events to avoid this occurring. We also saw that the crowd coming in was larger than expected, and this "luxury problem" meant we got into some issues.
We also saw there was some confusion due to music rights. As the rights for the music was only cleared in North America, it could only be seen by those players. This was confusing to many as they didn't understand how the game "knew" (we use geo-targeting on the ads) where they were from, and then they reacted when they couldn't see it, even though they weren't supposed to.
There are some lessons learned in this, but I think it is great that we today have the technology to pull this kind of stuff off. With the lessons learned implemented we are aiming to redo the event, and will give more information through the official www.anarchy-online.com website.
