This may only seem significant to people who've been playing AC and involved in the community for 6+ years, but I thought I'd take a moment to tell folks that this is the last day at Turbine for Jesse "Nei/Devilmouse" Kurlancheek. No, nothing tumultuous or scandalous, he's just ready for opportunities at other places. It's been close to eight years, and sometimes a brotha needs to move on.
Jesse and I started on the same day, a week before AC1 hit retail. We were entry-level content designers on the first live team together. We worked on the Lugian chorizite mines and composite bows together. He did a lot of work on game systems and balance in those days. The level 7 spells and the much-beloved and revolutionary Atlan weapons system were his babies. He was the persistent voice of the PK player in design discussions. It's been a good five or six years since he was on the AC team, but the game bears his indelible mark in a thousand major and not-so-major ways. People may remember him as the Teen Digital Diva at the first Turbine player gathering, and one of the hosts of the always-about-to-go-out-of-control after-parties at the first three gatherings. He also maintained a daily presence on certain AC-related IRC channels during his time on the team, engaging in honest and frank discussion of the game with the other regulars.
Jesse's been one of my best friends and partners in crime here for lo these many years, and I thought it'd be nice to make a note of it here, for the players who remember his time on the AC Live team and all the integral contributions he made.
So, whoever's inclined, please join me in wishing Jesse a fond farewell and best wishes with his new ventures.
