Neverwinter Nights 2: NWN 2 Worlds to Close For Good

Strauss/Rhomal of NWN 2 News and now NWN 2 Worlds has announced via his site that he is closing down for good. I hope he will forgive the posting of his announcement in its entirety:

I want to thank everyone who made nwn2news and nwn2worlds the success it was within the community. I am glad to have offered a voice to those that on their own could not be heard. And to help the community in any way that I did. Like me or despise me I only had, in the end, the best intentions of he community ALWAYS. More so then others within sadly (such as Robert of DLA).

However, I feel I have done all I can. And frankly it is time for me to move on to other things. At this point NWN 2 is set in stone in the big picture. More textures, monster models, script functions and bug fixes will of course be added in XP1 and perhaps XP2 as well as patches. However the core functions are most likely not going to be changed to any significant degree. With nwn2news I did my damnest to push both on the the surface, and behind the scenes, for things the community (and of course I) wanted. And while the PW scene is on better footing I don't feel I can offer as much as I initially thought with this site. Plus with being banned by ass clowns at bioware on the biosidian forums, it makes life, and running this site effectively, difficult.

Impossible? No. But more work then I frankly have time or the motivation for.

I have never been one to do something half assed. I have always followed the motto 'When you wake up in the morning dreading going to work, its time to find a new job'. I believe the same is true for a hobby. While I never have, and never will 'dread' the countless hours and money put into this hobby, I have lost the spark for it. Partly due to the fact I was offline so long, and fell behind so far I did not feel I could catch up. Also partly due to the fact the community did not take to nwn2worlds as strongly as I had hoped. But also I want to work and put my full effort into my new Pagan/Wicca site www.witchescodex.net and running 2 sites properly, just isn't doable time wise for me.

So I want to thank all the friends I have made at Obsidian (I don't need to drop names, they (and many here) know who they are) and also the loyal visitors and staff of nwn2news and nwn2worlds. I couldn't do it without with any of you and you have my most deepest thanks. I hope you found the past 3.5 years to be as helpful and interesting as I tried to make them be. I wish, even my detractors who thought I was "trying to take over the community", the very best. May the gods smile upon you.

Is this the last you will see of Rhomal/Strauss? Doubtful. I pop in the obsidian forums once a week or so if you need to track me down, or the above mentioned site. And on YIM as 'harlemaximus'. Also never say never if NWN3 is announced... ;)
