Ramen, Community Specialist for Turbine's Community Team for Lord of the Rings Online, posted this helpful news about an update to the help system in-game:
As part of our continued efforts to combat unwanted communications in LOTRO from gold-spammers and their ilk, we're happy to announce a new category addition to the in-game help system: "spam."
Spamming is defined as the unwanted repetitive messaging of other players through chat or in-game mail (including gold-selling and powerleveling advertisers). To report a player for spamming, type a brief description of the issue, enter the first name of the player, and click the submit button. A Game Master will respond to your request as quickly as possible, in the order in which it was received. Note that you will not be informed of any disciplinary actions taken against another player.
Please use this new category to report spam messages. We take anything that disrupts the play experience of our legitimate customers very seriously, and this new category is but one of many steps in our efforts to reduce such disruption. Thank you for all your in-game reports, and keep them coming!
I know I've been bothered in game by these, and this is a great tool they've given us!
