Pirates Of The Burning Sea: Stratics Interviews POTBS Map Maker

| 1 Oct 2007 17:25

Johnathan "The Map Maker" White had time for some tea and a chat with the folks at Stratics. The interview discusses his background, as well as the exceptional map he created for the game.

Are there any individual historic cartographers whose work you particularly admire? Do you have a favorite mapmaking era?

Johnathan: I would have to say that one of my personal favorite "Cartographers" would have to be Emanuel Bowen. A very talented surveyor and Artist in the Early Americas. In a close running, I would say that James Cook has much appeal as a talented Cartographer as well. Although, wasn't as heavy into the sciences of geography like Bowen. He was however an incredibly talented and proficient Navigator and Explorer. As a Navigator myself, I can appreciate the skills required for what he accomplished.

The map and the rest of the interview can be viewed over at Stratics.
