Fallen Earth: QotW#28: Fiction, Picture Identification, and Bunny Hopping.

This week we hit a number of new questions about the background of Fallen Earth, and have another fiction sample. Two things that are important to note about these stories we are posting:

1. They are canon. They are actual events in the Fallen Earth universe and you can find some of the characters involved in them in the game.
2. Just because some members of a faction act in a certain way it doesn't mean they all do, or that the faction condones such behavior. Every faction has both "good" and "evil" members, so no one should go thinking all members of their faction are sweetness and light.

Additionally, whenever new official fiction is available (like this week), we will post it on Friday over in Sparks in the Ashes. Be sure to look there this Friday for new fiction, but since we couldn't resist, here's a bit of a teaser:

I left my home the next day. I don't remember how long we walked, but the scenery rarely changed. The arid, rocky canyon gave way to acres of parched farms. We ran out of water surrounded by miles of farmland watered from wells too deep for us to reach. Ahni died there. We had carried her, unconscious, for two days before she thrashed herself to death. Her skin was puckered and wrinkled and her eyes had fallen back into her head. Ahab buried her by a clump of trees. That night we came across a small group of barely guarded 'Bearers and 'Forcers.

Now, on to the questions:

1. With all the high canyon walls will there be elevator type things?

Nope. I don't recommend falling in the canyon. It's about one trip to the LifeNet pod deep in most spots. If you manage to walk into the canyon you can find ways to get out with some effort, but falling in is a fatal proposition.

2. Will Any NPC say "break a deal spin the wheel"?

Maybe not those exact words, but the feeling will be there. Especially in Traveler towns, like Credit Bend run by King Eddie.

3. Will this image be found on a lot of commercial products??

Yes, as those products will be brought to you by your friends at GlobalTech and its related subsidiaries, like GloboGas, GloboLodge, Waffle Warehouse, and WASP-Mart. This symbol guarantees the goods it marks will be of the highest quality, or we will replace the good with a new item of the same type*.

Note: GlobalTech not responsible for spontaneous human combustion, hair loss, flesh eating bacteria, monkey rage, rabid wombat's disease, hysterical pregnancy, or other medical conditions caused by its products. Any comments criticizing GlobalTech will be met with a slander lawsuit. GlobalTech products may be made with repurposed nanites and the company is not responsible for accidental gray goo incidents. Do not taunt GlobalTech nanites.

*This offer void in all GlobalTech corporate provinces.

4.

(and that other art)

Tomb located a lot of old concept art from the game, not all of which remains in use. We don't want to give away what all of those creatures are, but the humanoid ones are creatures called throwbacks that are common in many areas of the Grand Canyon Province. Some say they're devolved humans who have been turned into some primitive precursor of modern man, while others say they are the product of military experiments using the Shiva virus. Regardless of their true history, they are extremely strong and resistant to damage.

5. How do you intend to stop Bunny Hopping and Dolphin Diving, the silly side of FPS's, and make PVP more serious then a bunch of people jumping up and down all over the place?

Characters who jump do not keep up their speed, so if you bunny hop around you'll be standing still pretty quick. It's much better to keep moving than to start jumping.
