Although it is a well-known fact that many of those drawn to Dereth are adventurers, explorers, or perhaps even brigands, these groups do not represent the entire population by any means. The minority, comprised of shopkeepers, scribes, craftsmen, farmers and others often find themselves ignored by those running from one group of Tuskers to the next, regarded merely as nothing more than part of scenery. An unfortunate situation indeed.
Despite their low status, these people are the backbone of our society here upon Auberean. Our adventurers and explorers depend on the services of the blacksmiths and archmages of our towns, and every resident relies upon the food grown by our farmers and distributed by our grocers. Therefore, a threat to the productivity of these vital parts of our society should be neutralized swiftly and surely.
Such a threat has been discovered in the subterranean farms of Martine's Retreat. Reports speak of an invasion of Olthoi and their grubs, and of a Virindi simulacrum running amok in the tunnels deep beneath the town of Rithwic. Circeus, dismayed by these reports, spoke to the de-facto leader of the underground community, Hidbin Velos, and began an investigation into these strange happenings.
Should you wish to aid the town in its time of troubles, his report can be found in our Quest Compendium - and I would ask that any with the ability to help, do so - after all, who knows when Starvation in Paradise may spread and affect us all?
