Player Association: ReD
Where in the real life world do you live? I live in Berlin, Germany.
How long have you played Star Wars Galaxies? I have been playing since July 2003.
What other MMOs have you played? I played Asheron's Call intensely. I have briefly played Anarchy Online, World of Warcraft (Beta), Lineage II, EverQuest 2, and Planetside.
What type of work do you do? I am an attorney-at-law.
How long is your typical gaming session when playing Star Wars Galaxies? About 4 hours twice a week. It was much more in the past but unfortunately I don't have much time to play any more because of work, family, etc.
What does a typical Star Wars Galaxies day consist of for you? At the moment, leveling my Kimo pet and doing a little PvP.
What was the race and profession of your very first character? My first character was a Zabrak Creature Handler / Rifleman.
What got you into gaming and what sort of games do you like the most? I started playing on a cousin's Commodore 64 back in the 1980s. I only play SWG now but I also like Adventures, Strategy Games, and Space Simulations.
What other hobbies or activities do you take part in, other then playing Star Wars Galaxies? I enjoy motorbiking, snowboarding, diving, reading books, writing web applications (Perl), and managing my Internet server.
What is your highest character level in Star Wars Galaxies? Level 90.
What race and profession is your main character? My main character is a human smuggler.
What do you like the most about the profession you have chosen for your main character? Smugglers are uncommon and I like to play a profession that is (presumed) underpowered.
What faction is your main character? I have always been Imperial.
What is your favorite player owned ship? The Firespray and its massive damage. :)
What is your favorite ground vehicle? The jetpack, but I usually use the Factional Barc Speeder.
How did you choose your main character's name? Both first and last name are taken from Dune by Frank Herbert.
Which current professions in Star Wars Galaxies have you NOT played? I have not played entertainer, officer, commando, or spy.
What is your favorite expansion? Jump to Lightspeed.
What is your favorite planet? My favorite planet is Naboo.
What is your favorite NPC? My favorite NPC is the medic from Smuggler's Call-a-Favor.
Which expansion do you like the least? I don't really dislike any expansion, but I like Rage of the Wookies the least because of the endless running and driving around.
Which planet do you like the least? Dathomir. I still remember having to run 6km doing Cries of Alderaan 1 (or 2?) before the introduction of mounts or vehicles.
Which NPC do you like the least? An Old Man - he made me wait.
What is the most credits you have ever spent on purchasing a single item for one of your characters? 100 million (-1) credits. Several times, in fact, but the first time was to buy me a Nightsister bicep in 2005. 100 million credits were A LOT back then.
Do you have an item you no longer use but keep around for nostalgic reasons? If so what is it and why do you keep it? Two pre-CU crafted pistols. One of them was built by a good friend who left the game afterwards. The other was really powerful, crafted with good Krayt Tissues and 30% damage-sliced. The latter is still good but it is an HC Scatter Pistol and I can't use it as a smuggler.
What do you like best about Star Wars Galaxies? You can still advance in the game if you don't have much time to play. The economy is also impressive (despite the inflation). It is nice that you can do the things you like most and trade your products for other things you don't want to spend time on.
What do you get out of playing Star Wars Galaxies? I am really attached to my characters so I like to keep my characters on top of the available content. At the moment I am trying to get my pet to level 90 / BFF and finish the Imperial Theme Park before Chapter 7 goes live. Doing this I get the feeling that I have accomplished (or even finished) something. Apart from that, SWG offers a nice recreation from a day's work.
Describe your best experience playing Star Wars Galaxies. Playing SWG has its ups and downs. The events I remember most are probably group actions with people I befriended in the game. One turning point for me was the so called "Battle of Scara Brae" on Gorath (still Pre-CU). It was by far the biggest event I ever participated in; it must have been about 500 players, everyone in factional clothing / armor. When the Rebels approached us it looked like a red wall on the radar. Unfortunately the server crashed which served to sober us a lot about the then unbound possibilities. I still hope that an event like that will be possible some time in the future though. But even if the technique is not able to keep up all of the time it is still a fine experience for me to see people working together in game to accomplish something.
Do you run or work for a Star Wars Galaxies Fan Site? I run the GCW calculator / GCW statistics website. Check it out at http://swg.activeframe.de. You can also get a nice signature picture showing your character's GCW statistics there or even create your own design.
