IGN Vault featured an exclusive interview with upcoming MMO Jumpgate Evolution's Community Manager Nicole Hamlett. Hamlett talked about her current work, future community plans and the project development status:
Rosethorn: An active and entertained community is certainly something every community manager desires. Are there any plans you can talk about for your future in the job?
Nicole: Right now we're working on finishing up our official website as well as the forums. Jumpgate players had private forums that they could access, but you had to be a subscriber to the game. We're totally opening up the Evolution forums so that people can interact with each other and our developers. We want players to get to know who we are and what we want to see this game become.
In the interim, we've just opened up a Facebook profile so that while the community is waiting, they can interact with us and have some fun. There are some really great apps on Facebook that we can clown around with while we're waiting for the real thing to happen. There are also plans to have a MySpace page. If people want to join our Facebook community they can go to this link, and add us as a friend. On a side note, you have to be registered to add us as a friend...
Rosethorn: Where is Jumpgate Evolution at in the development process now?
Nicole: We are still in pre-beta. I know that a lot of people want to know when that is going to move into that much coveted stage, but the honest truth is that we're just not ready for it. As a gamer, I hate seeing answers like "soon" or "when it's ready". So I won't say soon, but I'm going to have to fall back on "when it's ready." I can say that we're looking at late 2008 launch so hopefully it won't be too much longer before we can get the people in. You can sign up for beta here. We're talking about fun ways to get people into beta now, so make sure to check out the community so you can be assured a spot.
