Dev Diary - Jeff "Jaskell" Haskell #2
Hi everyone! Jaskell here again, and now that Chapter 8 is nearing completion, I would like to take some time to tell you a little bit about the space collection systems.
Space Faction Kill Collections
Pilots will be able to participate in at least one of three faction oriented space slayer kill collections. Each of the faction kill collections has 5 tiers (or levels) that can be completed in any order. With each tier the player completes, space experience and badges are rewarded. When the player completes all 5 tiers they receive their final reward.
If you are new to space combat, new pilots will be able to progress through the collection at the same time as they progress through their piloting skills, giving the entire space leveling system more value. If you are a veteran pilot, you will be able to find the ships easily because additional spawn locations have been added.
Space Loot Collections
The space loot collections are essentially the same type of inventory collection you might find on the ground, but of course, it is happening in space. As with ground collections, the pilot will receive collectibles when looting destroyed enemy ships, and the collectibles are 'collected' via a radial option. If the player has already collected the item, it can be traded to another player or sold to a junk dealer.
New Ship Components
I spent several days creating limited use schematics for Chapter 8 space component collection rewards. Not to be confused with gunship components, these rewards can be crafted and used in your existing ships. As you might have guessed, they will have better stats than space loot and existing crafted components, but the full potential of these components can only be realized through diligent experimentation.
We definitely hope you have fun with the Chapter 8 content. If you see an issue while testing or want to leave feedback, please post on the Chapter 8 collections thread.
