IGN has posted their cross-platform overall "best of" winners for the year 2007. In addition, they give a nod to the "readers choice" award and two or three runners up in each category.
In the RPG category, Mass Effect took the overall award:
Forcing gamers to make tough choices is a hallmark of BioWare designed games and Mass Effect has taken the concept to new heights.
And for best online gaming experience, Call of Duty 4 took top honors:
There was a time when delivering intense battles amongst friends was enough to garner accolades but as time has progressed the demands for online gaming have grown. Luckily Call of Duty 4 upped the ante with 18-player battles and a massive character building system that unlocks weapons, attachments and new garb as you continue to level up.
