Some of the most marvelous objects in Vanguard are created by players. From the very beginning of your experience in Telon, you're exposed to a variety of meticulously crafted items, ranging from boats and envy invoking armor sets, to grandiose Guild Halls and homes decorated with creativity and care.
Crafting in Vanguard is certainly a sphere that stands on its own, though if you have made your way through the world as an adventurer or diplomat, you may find yourself a bit lost when trying to train a craft for the first time.
Vanguard Crafters is the leading authority on all that is crafting and their forums are alive with informative people who are willing to help and share their knowledge. If you're not sure which path you'd like to take, spend some time doing a little research and see what suits you best.
If you want to advance as an Artificer, Blacksmith, or Outfitter, you'll need to get back to your roots, that is, visit a starting city where you can speak with a Crafting Advisor. There are quite a few scattered across the continents, here are just a few: [/p]
Mias Dragonsky (Kojan - Tanvu)
Asmirdas Metashan (Qalia - Khal)
Kabixil Maynox (Qalia - Mekalia)
Taral Fyen (Thestra - Leth Nurae)Once you've found these trainers, you can choose a path that suits you best. Keep in mind that what you choose now will determine which more specific path you will follow as you progress. Artificers may choose to become a Carpenter or Stonemason. Blacksmiths can decide between Armor and Weaponsmithing. Outfitters can become either a Leatherworker or Tailor.
Each crafting class creates and contributes value to players and the economy. You can advance your craft by completing work orders, but if you plan to sell your wares to others, you'll need to have plenty of resources on hand.
It can seem difficult raising your harvesting skill as a lower level adventurer who hasn't yet traveled the vast world of Telon. You may not know where to go, or what to harvest. Near most harvesting trainers there will be one or more resources for you to harvest, allowing you to build your skill a bit. If you find yourself in an area that seems barren of nodes you can always increase your adventuring and crafting level by killing beasts that yield resources when you harvest their corpses.

Lumberjacking
You can visit the Sister's Veil on Thestra, just south of Leth Nurae to battle Decayed Treants, Frostbark Evokers, and Ironbark Destroyers. Harvest the former until you reach 100, and then harvest the latter two after.

Quarrying
You can visit the Whirling Flurry pit right outside of Khal on the Qalia continent and demolish these 2 dot level 6 piles of stone. They yield basalt from harvesting, and can bring your skill up over 100.
Wraith over at Vanguard Crafters has compiled a hefty list of mobs (other than skinning) that can be killed and harvested, complete with their area and appropriate level.
