Lord Of The Rings Online: Known Issues with Book 12

Following is the Known Issues list for Book 12: The Ashen Wastes. We'll update this list with new issues as they are discovered!

Crafting

  • Some crafting items and recipes are appearing on class vendors, which can only be accessed by those of the appropriate class, rather than crafting profession vendors.
Quests
  • During the quest Book XII, Chapter 3: Barad Tironn, characters can position themselves behind a gate when Ein starts moving to attack them such that the gate closes and Ein becomes stuck behind the gate. At this point Ein is no longer able to be killed and the quest cannot be completed.
  • In rare instances, during the quest “Master of Barad Gularan,” if all members of a fellowship go link dead when Castellan Wisdan starts attacking, then restart the game and log back in with the same characters, Castellan Wisdan goes into NPC mode and cannot be attacked. This can also be caused by Burglar characters using the Hide in Plain Sight skill instead of characters going link dead and then logging back in.
  • The quest Adelard’s Chapter does not reset for an extended period of time after failure. If a character dies when the bears attack during this quest and the quest fails, the quest does not reset and Isembard Took, the necessary NPC does not respawn for some time.
UI
  • When inspecting, the user interface has item displays that are not aligned.
  • Opening the map when in Aughaire causes the large map of Middle-earth to appear rather than the appropriate area map.
Cosmetic System
  • Changes to a character’s appearance, such as those made at a barber, will update immediately on the character’s avatar but will not update in the character’s vital window or journal until the character is next logged in.
Monster Play
  • In the Delving of Frór, if the player approaches Rottenroot and then attacks and defeats all the other wood trolls, it will result in Moss Patch Hewer and Moss Patch Lure respawning as NPCs almost immediately.
Housing
  • The Decorating button is not being grayed out when a player is not allowed to decorate. The button can be clicked and will put you in Decoration Mode, but it does not make the hooks appear.
  • Player housing billboard messages will not display the owner's name as it should when you log in. You'll need to uncheck, then recheck the box under the "Options," "Social Options," then "Display My Home Ownership Information" before it will display correctly.
Hardware
  • Certain Realtek cards may play sounds too loudly, play too many sounds at once, or play no sound at all. The current workaround is as follows:
On the Options > Audio menu, change Sound Playback from “Generic Hardware on Realtek AC97 Audio” to “Generic Software on Realtek AC97 Audio.”
Vista
  • When patching up to the new build or after patching has been completed, Vista users with UAC enabled may be prompted to “allow” permissions for the file “TurbineElevator.exe”. If you do not allow permissions you may encounter difficulties patching or starting the game. Shutting the Launcher down then restarting again should clear up the problem.
