As some of you folks may know, the publisher 3DO recently filed for bankruptcy and is looking to sell off all of its assets. What do you know, but according to this article Turbine Entertainment is bidding on one, or possibly more then one, of 3DO's assets.
In a notice filed with the U.S. Bankruptcy Court in San Francisco, 3DO's attorneys said Microsoft, Eidos, Ubi Soft, JoWooD Productions Software AG, Namco Hometek Inc., Turbine Entertainment Software Corp. and Crave Entertainment filed by Wednesday's deadline to bid in the Aug. 14 auction.
3DO owns the rights to a number of popular game series such as the "Army Men" series, as well as "Heroes of Might & Magic". There are also a few titles in production that many gamers were looking forward to such as "Street Racing Syndicate" and "Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse". Interestingly, though, none of these titles is a MMOG. Could Turbine be looking to the future and a possible MMOG Might & Magic title? Only time will tell...
