Andrew Patrick, a community manager for Arena Net, announced today that he is moving into Quality Assurance with Arena Net. This move comes hot on the heels of the announcement that Gaile Gray will also be leaving her community manager position as well.
Here is some of Patrick's wiki post:
I spoke with Jeff Strain about my long-term goals and he told me what pretty much anyone in the industry will tell you-the best place to learn the skills and gain the knowledge needed to move into game development is the QA team. Their hands-on interaction with the pre-release game, the dev team, and the overall development process gives members of the QA team invaluable insight that directly correlates to a number of other jobs in the industry. Jeff also felt my knowledge of the game and the community would be valuable tools that would allow me to contribute a lot to the QA team. So, I've accepted a position on the team and will be moving there next week.
Good luck to Andrew!
