Today on ACVault, The Last Blademaster: Reports of my Death Have Been Greatly Exaggerated!!!
Well, it's certainly been awhile, hasn't it? Ben-Li has escaped the grasp of what we call "real life" and is ready to start writing again! He's certainly been busy -- both in and out of game -- so he has plenty to talk about! Here's a teaser:
A while back, I had watched a very nice array of atlatls get blown up while attempting to imbue them with Sunstone. I always try to get my nicest weapons imbued first, because if they're not imbued they're not usually worth using anyway. If they get destroyed in the attempt, I really don't feel like I've lost anything. My problem was that a large number of very nice Thrown Weapons pieces were being destroyed and I was actually having a little trouble finding something worth imbuing in the first place. My old friend Tejon finally succeeded on a +120% damage atlatl with +9% melee defense, BDV, SKV, and Def V as well as Coordination Self VI.
This was a very nice atlatl to finally get imbued with the Armor Rending property. I could wear my TW Mastery V gauntlets in place of my Coordination Self V gauntlets and pick up the Coordination buff from the weapon itself. The atlatl had nice buffs built into it if I needed to use it in a pinch, but I could always improve it a bit by casting extra Item Enchantment spells on it. The only problem was I couldn't equip it when Tejon had first succeeded in imbuing it. It sat on my wall waiting until that day when I finally got my base Thrown Weapons skill (I have it trained, not specialized) up to the magical level of 270 base.
My other prized piece of loot was a rather plain looking Covenant Shield. I'd been using the Diamond Shield that my patron, Quip, had given me. I no longer needed the Life Magic protections that the Diamond Shield provided, so I wanted something that would provide more armor level. I found it in the form of a shield level 409 Covenant Shield with Impenetrability VI built in. It doesn't provide any Creature buffs or cool Bane spells -- it's just shield level 609 against melee and missile attacks and shield level 409 to hollow attacks. Not too shabby. It has a minimum wield requirement of 333 base Melee Defense, so it too sat on my cottage wall until I finally hit the magic number in my skills.
I've missed Ben-Li Sung.
