Horizons Vault has released the newest in their monthly series of question and answer sessions with David Bowman, Creative Director of Horizons. This month's issue has a treasure trove of information, including explanations on magic, the dreaded NDA, and even the hot topic of macroing. Here's a preview of what you'll read:
Lepidus: The decision to allow macroing in some forms has caused heated debate. Could you clarify your stance on the issue and explain how you will prevent it from being detrimental to the game as a whole?
David Bowman: The ability to press one key and have it execute several actions will absolutely be supported in Horizons. This is a macro and is an essential part of any good user interface. If we see players using this to avoid a portion of game play, we will look at the game play in question and determine if we need to change it to make it more enjoyable since some portion of our customers are attempting to avoid actively engaging in it.
Using third party applications to automate character behaviours in an effort to allow a character to be logged into a world and profiting/advancing 24/7 without human intervention is not a desired feature of Horizons. The game design does not lend itself as readily to this as previous products, but it is inevitable that some clever individual with too much spare time will develop a complex script that allows them to achieve this. If we can verify that a player is doing this, we will use our discretion to change this behaviour. We reserve the right to temporarily or permanently ban characters/accounts. This would be absolutely off limits on the Role Play shard.
This article is a must read, especially for those of you starving for more information after our Q&A earlier this week.
