World Of Warcraft: A message from CGW

| 23 Aug 2003 23:17

Hey gang. The wife is making me step away from the PC now and enjoy some fresh air on this lovely Saturday. It has been fun hanging out here and watching the fireworks. I don't get to spend hardly any time on fansites anymore, and it is really amazing to see the passion you all have.

Just a couple things to keep in mind:

1) I know our article is not perfect/brilliant/Pulitzer Prize winning. It is what it is. Remember that we are writing to a general gaming audience, many of whom, believe it or not, may have heard of WoW before. So every time we do an article like this we have to start over and explain the basics to people. It's not necessarily the best place for hardcore fans like yourselves to get ALL the info you need. Because, jeez, you know WAY more than we do already. :)

2) All the scans I've seen so far have indeed been real. Many of those screenshots--like the one of the Undead mage--are ones that I took myself personally while playing the game at Blizzard's office in Irvine. So whether you think the shots are cool or lame, there's no point in debating their legitimacy or not. They're real.

3) Be nice to Blizzard! Give them the benefit of the doubt. If you're here, then you are already a fan, I take it, and you should know that these guys know what they are doing. The game isn't in beta yet, so there's plenty that could change. Plus, as I mentioned in another post, it's an online game--they can add and remove content once the game launches. So those classes and races you haven't seen yet may still show up.

Okay, I need to log off. I'm not running away--really. :) This has been fun. I'll probably be back again over the weekend, but understand that I can't possibly keep up with all the questions/comments/flames about my lousy writing.

Thanks everyone!
