I have made progress in my private investigation. A number of pilots have provided me with information and it seems I was right. The Amananthii are fashioning more drones. These ones seem to have more advanced adrenal glands and are programmed with a far greater intelligence. They seem to be on par with the sentient Conflux fighters. One assumes that they are designed to combat them and defend the Amananthii space more efficiently. Assuming this is correct I fail to see why they have not informed TRI of their experiments. Adv drones would be a great asset for all five factions and would put the conflux at a disadvantage; I can only hope that there isn't another reason they kept it from us...

I'm still waiting for some official TRI views on this matter.
