Starting off the week, Gamespot.com has posted it's updated preview on everyone's favorite upcoming game, Horizons *wink*. The informative, albiet short, preview has a few new tidbits for you to chew on, including a bit more about the magic system in Istaria:

Bowman explained that using magic in Horizons, at least as far as combat is concerned, will require tactical planning and will work best with a coordinated group. This is because in Horizons, spell-casters go through three phases when casting a spell: pre-casting, casting, and post-casting. During the pre-casting and casting phases, a magic-user is defenseless, and during the post-casting phase, the magic-user recovers, but can't cast that same spell for some time. The lower-level spells will all have extremely brief post-cast times so that you can fire them off in rapid succession, but as Bowman explained, players will encounter tough fights that will require magic-users to unleash more-powerful spells, but they'll have to coordinate their attacks in succession for the best results.

I'll take that as meaning there's no mana in Horizons. Hmm, should be interesting! The full article can be accessed by following this link.
