Ryzom Patch News & Pricing

The Ryzom team has both bane and boon news for fans. The bane is that the free-to-play game will not be so after the end of January. The boon is that there is a new patch in the works. See what it's all about!

The Bane:

Well, 2008 was surely a roller coaster ride for the game of Ryzom, so many turns of events for our beloved game.
The Ryzom team would like to thank you for all your help and support in keeping the Ryzom Community alive and well over this period.

It is with great pleasure that we wish you all a happy new year for 2009 and extend to you and your families the very best of health, happiness, love and prosperity for the year ahead.

What more could you wish for? Maybe more free play on Ryzom I hear you ask? Well we have listened and for the month of January you will still be able to enjoy playing the game of Ryzom for free.

As you will be aware Ryzom cannot develop and prosper as a "free to play" game forever, and therefore we have released Ryzom's New Pricing structure as follows. I am sure you will be pleased with the new prices.

The Boon:

Dear players,

We are planning to temporarily shut down the servers, starting at 9am GMT ( click here for the time in most major cities ) on Wednesday 7 January, for a period of approximately 4 hours (until about 1pm GMT), though it might take a bit longer depending on how things go.

This downtime is intended to install a small update to the servers and also to allow us to test the procedure for updating Ryzom servers in real situations. We appreciate your understanding in advance on this break of several hours.

As this is a serverside patch only, it won't need anything special from you (except patience ) and you should not need to patch your game client.

Contents of this update:

- Detecting exploits / cheats. We remind you that any person found to be cheating will be banned immediately and without warning.
- Fixed some small errors in the French, English and German translations.
- Fixed the server crash when guilds become too big and in other situations as well.
- Reactivation of Kitin Larvae in Desertstock. You can dig there again .
- We removed a cart that was misplaced in a portal in Zora.
- Reappearance of Kitin in Demon's Lap.
- Gone are the days when neutrals could (wrongly) take advantage of Teleport Tickets in Scorched Corridor!
