Fallen Earth's latest Dev Interview feature introduces Associate Project Manager Dave "Archangel" Haydysch, who just happened to know the right people and stumbled into an exciting gaming career:

Alias/Forum Name: Archangel
Title / Position at Fallen Earth: Associate Project Manager
What games have you played and worked on?
Fallen Earth is the first game I have worked on. I have played a lot of games!
How long have you been working on Fallen Earth?
Is this work?
How did you get involved with your job position?
Let's just say I know the right people...
What type of college courses or schooling did you have to prepare you for your position at Fallen Earth?
I come from a business / industrial engineering background so I am not as technical, but that has given me the skills to be effective in my role. I have been a gamer my whole life, but college really helped a lot because we played a LOT of Xbox, PS2, and PC games.
What in particular inspired you to work in the gaming industry?
I always thought that would be one of the best jobs to work at a gaming company and when I got the chance I jumped on it. It's a LOT of work, but honestly the best job I have ever had!
What games stand out in your memory for positive reasons?
There are so many great games out there it's hard to choose, likewise there are a lot of one's you would rather forget too. Games that tend to stick out to me for positive reasons are games like WoW, Halo, and Gears of War. I love the "old school" games too like Mario, Mega Man, Contra, Zelda, etc...
What advice would you give to budding games / software developers?
Just know that you will probably have to work your way up, be patient. Work hard, and have fun, if you're not having fun or enjoying your job, find a job that will allow that, that's where you will do your best work and the rest will come. Every morning I remind myself "I get to work at a game company!"
On an average day, what do you do at Fallen Earth?
As project managers Ilkor and I both work very hard at making sure everything is on schedule and making sure everything is getting done right. My average day consists of problem solving, scheduling, meetings, phone calls, reviewing everything from content to marketing, and play tests. There is always a lot going on and always fires to put out. We have a great team here who is dedicated to making Fallen Earth the best it can be, which is a great plus. I work with some incredibly talented people!
