Star Wars Galaxies: The Deal with Pistoleer

We noticed in our weekly game metrics analysis meeting that the number of novice pistoleers in the game has skyrocketed from the last time we did a novice skills analysis (we don't do those every week). Now, we're not talking about Master Pistoleers here--those remain in line with what we'd expect. It's people who have the Novice Pistoleer box.

When I say skyrocketed, I mean "fastest growing profession" by a lot, plus also "most popular advanced profession."

The only other one that stuck out was creature handler, but we're pretty sure we know why.

But we're not that sure on pistoleer. So what's up? Why is pistoleer suddenly so popular? It didn't used to be out of line with the other advanced professions.

I'm a pistoleer, and the only reason I choose it was because of the DPS, basically, and as a weaponsmith a pistol was the first gun I could make. What about you? Click here and discuss!
