Star Wars Galaxies: More info on BE XP

| 4 Sep 2003 09:08

Holocron stopped by the Official Bio-Engineer Board to share with us more info on this profession XP.

From the BE designer, who says "They are validly concerned about the amount of XP they currently get and I'd like them to know that the fixes I'm working on will address these issues."

Crafting XP in SWG is based on two primary factors, amount of resources used and whether your crafted item is used by another player. Creature Cloning has a unique problem because a major portion of the "resources" used is the DNA samples themselves. Often times these samples are extremely difficult and dangerous to acquire and it's not reflected correctly in the XP rewarded.

The fixes that are currently being worked on for Creature Cloning will take this into better account. The amount of XP granted for the creation of a DNA Template will be directly related to the ratings of the DNA used. So if you use DNA from powerful, high level creatures, not only will the resulting DNA Template give you a powerful high level creature, but it will give you more XP.

Usage XP will still play a large role in your crafting advancement. Some of you may decide to specialize in the creation of DNA Templates only and forego the creation of the final creature. It's reasonable to assume that there will be a market for these powerful DNA Templates from BEs who are less adventurous and unable or unwilling to get the needed DNA to create them. This means that BEs who specialize in the creation DNA Template will get more XP per template created (assuming their templates get used by other BEs) and may lead to faster advancement but this is a valid compensation for the extra effort those BEs have to go through to market and sell their goods.
