Forgotten Memory
May 3, 2002
He drew up his robes around himself and shivered in the abnormal cold. Such icy, damp air was unusual for a day so late into spring. And it was especially intolerable weather to wait on the convenience of his companion. Kenneth paced back and forth uncomfortably; half to warm himself and half in impatience. He'd better get here soon.
While he waited the strange events of the past few weeks resonated in his mind. Disruptions in portal space creating "copies" of fellow townsmen. Ruptures in the very fabric of time slowing movement to a crawl. And worst of all, corpses that did not fall to the ground at death but simply hung in the air, lifelessly staring, breathing in a grim mockery of life. Kenneth shuddered, this time not from the cold.
The vast grey beast approached. Almost an hour late. Atop the beast, a man turned to face Kenneth as he approached. The look of impatience on Kenneth's face was unmistakable. Barely looking at the man, he growled, "You've taken your time in getting here. Don't you think the people have waited long enough for this?"
Berke didn't let Kenneth's tone of voice bother him. He never did. He simply beckoned for Kenneth to join him atop the beast. In his hand he clutched a colorful parchment, which he offered to his guest. Kenneth grudgingly took it and strained to read the words on it.
This was it. This was the finally the way to save Dereth before it could be destroyed. All would sing their praises as heroes. If.
If they could survive the challenge ahead.
Kenneth read the words aloud to himself.
"For One Day Only! RAM Blowout Sale at Fry's Electronics!"
He allowed himself a slight smile.
"Let's roll, Berke. Let's roll."

Unlike any other gaming experience, the world of Asheron's Call continues to lag. In April, the strange and terrible Residential Quarters of Memory Draining appeared. To help combat them and other dangers of the land, adventurers made use of their Decal Applications and found refuge in another landblock. For May, we're buying some sticks of memory that were on a "Buy One, Get One Free" deal at Fry's Electronics. Join us, as we open our May Event, Forgotten Memory.
