Star Wars Galaxies: Holocron's responds to how to close the 'commuication gap'

| 11 Sep 2003 01:26

Here is Holocrons responce with detailed explainations.

ˇBetter direct communication between the devs of a given profession and the correspondents--and less of me, since it isn't really my job anyway. -- have to figure out how to best do this. We may not want to have the email address for individual devs leak out, so we may have to create special correspondent email addresses or something.
ˇ Known Issues page, possibly per profession. -- have to figure out how to do this and make it so tat it's easy to update, and who updates it (comm mgr? the dev for each prof?). If it's web group, that's slower, and I need to get them in on it. Is it just a post on the forums?
ˇ Every time we discuss a problem possible solutions need to go on In Concept. Every time we discuss a solution we are going to implement, it needs to go on In Development -- I have to find out why this isn't happening now, because it is supposed to be.
ˇ Mandate devs playing time. -- easy, done.
ˇ Weekly state of the game letters. -- gotta figure out who writes them, and get them to write it. Relatively easy.
ˇ When mods forward a thread, they need to post telling the thread that it was forwarded. -- easy, done
ˇ They need to forward a minimum of five threads a day (sorry Xahn). -- heh, also pretty easy.
ˇ Slower updates (which actually refers to the hotfixes; too many balance-affecting fixes made as hotfixes rather than running through the test cycle). -- I suspect we're going to want to discuss this internally. The reason for the hotfixes is because we don't want urgent exploits to persist. The problem is then twofold--disagreement over what an exploit is, and then the fact that fixes often have big balance ramifications.
ˇ Fireside chats periodically. -- need to get them coordinated with a bunch of folks, so this might take a bit.
ˇ Weekly IRC chats with the correspondents (log posted later?). -- same as above.
[b]ˇ We need polls on log-in. -- new code, no idea how long it'll take.
[b]ˇ Need staff (which we know, and have been trying to hire -- well, we've been trying for a while now.
