Horizons: Changes in the wind

| 15 Sep 2003 21:40

As of late, there has been a great deal of shuffling within the ranks of Horizons WarCry. After much reorganization, we have hired several new people, including columnists, infohounds, and even much of the management has been reorganized. I would like to introduce (or reintroduce) all our current staff.

First and foremost, we have two Assistant Site Managers, Atomics and Araman. I would like to commend both for their stellar achievements thus far. They both have been much of the drive behind this website. Araman has been a great help in building our extensive library, and Atomics has been integral to our guild interviews, and relations. Horizons WarCry simply could not be what it currently is without Atomics and Araman.

Next up are our columnists. Knarr, one of our crazed columnists, writes a great column about various things, entitled 'Knarr's Notebook'. Cerebus (of the guild Call of Fate), who writes a very thought provoking and intriguing column, 'Hurm...' Finally, we have a unique column, 'Legends Corner', where any member of the guild, Legends, is able to post their thoughts about the game (in any form). Currently, Indiana and Lilterra have both written some great articles for Legends Corner.

Additionally, our coders have done a great job with developing various scripts across the site. I would like to recognize Lewt, Taenayr, and Optim Shi as the site coders.

We also have several editors, who unfortunately have nothing to edit quite yet, as there are no compendiums of information yet available on Horizons WarCry (hopefully they will be soon to come). Our current editors are Zenaph, Lilterra, Phoenix, Phogo, and Darvyn. However, I would like to commend Darvyn for his stellar job on our Lore Section.

In the moderating section, we have Aldric. As you can tell, we're going to be needing some more moderators in the very near future.

Finally, I (Nevir) am now the new Site Manager. Hopefully this is a good thing, but as those of you that know me, you can nevir tell :P Anyway, I hope to make Horizons WarCry an excellent resource for all of your Horizons needs.

However, it doesn't end there! We are badly in need of more staff. I would like to take this time to put out a call for new staff members. If you are interested in any of the following positions, please put in an email to hzapps@warcry.com.

Codemaster
Database and information guru. The codemaster will oversee all coding projects on Horizons WarCry. Will work closely with all upper staff (ASM's and SM) to insure that the site's scripts and databases work as intended. All coders will work under the supervision of the Codemaster. Creativity and constant ideas for projects is a plus.

Codemonkey
Overly evolved code primate. Codemonkeys will be integral to the functioning of Horizons WarCry. They will insure that each and every script on the site is running smoothly and that every script's interface is intuitive. Will be required to spend a great deal of time developing new scripts, and interfaces to insure ease of use.

Newshound
News gatherer. Newshounds will assist the Elite Infohound in keeping the site's news up to date. Will be required to regularly review many websites pertaining to Horizons for news. Newshounds will also be required to report on in-game events (finished and in progress). May double as an interviewer.

Infohound
Information retriever and reviewer. Infohounds insure that Horizons WarCry's compendiums are up to date and brimming with information. Will specialize in one compendium. Infohounds will also be required to review user submissions. Must be willing to put in the time necessary to keep compendiums up to date, especially when large amounts of information are made available.

Forum Moderators
Prominent Community Member. Forum Moderators will insure that forums run smoothly. This is accomplished by moderating offensive posts/threads and offensive community members. Will specialize in one or more forum. However, a forum moderator does not just moderate the posts and users in their forum(s). A forum moderator will also be required to stimulate discussion within the site's various forums.

Please note that all positions are completely volunteer. There is no salary or monetary compensation for work on Horizons Warcry. Reward for these positions come from one's own desire to be more experienced and involved with the Massively Multiplayer Online industry and/or Horizons being fulfilled.
