Jumpgate Evolution: US-Conflux attack on QC

| 18 Sep 2003 03:04

An interesting thing was noticed by myself and others during the attack however, that all pilots should take note of. Multiple times during the fight, a wounded drone (and the only reason I can safely say drone is that they exhibited the standard "conflux flinch" when damaged below 70% shields) being shot by multiple attackers would change targets. I personally noted this with multiple stingrays that were in the attack.

Normally, once a flux is damaged, it targets the pilot that damaged it until that pilot is destroyed. Thus is the basis for the 'tag & bag' or 'flux towing' technique, often employed in space today. However, during this attack damaged flux would change targets without destroying the first person to attack them. The chaos of the battle didn't allow for a close examination of this phenomenon, so what caused the flux to change targets is still unknown. Sentient command? Damage into armor? Amount of damage dealt by a certain enemy?

I ask groups of pilots to attempt the usual 'tag&bag' on some of the drones out there, and see if they exhibit this same behavior.
